Educational projects in 2024

year 2024

In this new year of 2024, many educational projects are getting under way…

Three projects and partnerships have been renewed:

  • A project based around the exhibition “Let’s go for sport! Press cartoons and citizenship” exhibition with the Blaise-Cendrars media library in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine: ten groups of young secondary school pupils will be able to visit the exhibition and meet a press cartoonist for a workshop-debate and a practical press cartoon workshop.
  • A project as part of the Territorial Plan to Combat Racism, Anti-Semitism and Discrimination, with the town of Vaulx-en-Velin around the exhibition “Draw me Gender Equality”: three groups from leisure centres, after visiting the exhibition, will benefit from a double workshop with a cartoonist (debate and practical work); four secondary schools in the town will also receive the exhibition and a workshop-debate.
  • A partnership with the Department of Penitentiary Administration (Ministry of Justice) for events (double workshops, debate and practical work) in fifteen penitentiary centres throughout the year.

Finally, a new project is being implemented in partnership with the Intermédia 78 organisation (Yvelines library association), based around the “Cartooning for Peace” exhibition, which will be on show in nine media libraries in the department throughout the year. A double workshop (debate and practice) will be organised in each media library with a cartoonist for a class.

Three training sessions for education professionals will be held in January to initiate the projects, in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, Vaulx-en-Velin and with the Intermédia 78 organisation in Chevreuse.

During these projects and meetings, the young participants as well as the inmates will be able to discover what press cartoons are, learn how to decipher them, find out about the profession of press cartoonist, his or her work and cartoons, and his or her commitment. By looking at the cartoons in the exhibition and those of the cartoonist, they will be able to open up the debate on fundamental freedoms and human rights.
