A third hearing was held on 24 March 2026 in Istanbul as part of the proceedings brought against the cartoonist Doğan Pehlevan for “insulting the president”. He is accused of posting insulting comments about the Turkish president on social media platform X. Doğan Pehlevan denies being the owner of the account in question or the author of the posts associated with it.
Cartooning for Peace is closely monitoring the proceedings against the cartoonist Doğan Pehlivan. Turkey is maintaining a climate of fear towards journalists by resorting to abusive legal proceedings, which constitutes an attack on press freedom.
