For the fourth consecutive year, in the framework of a partnership with the Seine Saint Denis department, twelve college classes worked on the travelling pedagogical exhibitions “Cartooning for Peace” and “All Migrants! ».
Using the pedagogical booklets provided and with the help of their teachers, they explore the different themes addressed by exhibitions such as the freedom of expression, stereotypes or the fear of the other. This work continues with a workshop between students and international cartoonists from all over the world, members of the Cartooning for Peace network.
For three days, from Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 May 2018, each class involved in the project can thus discover the daily life of a foreign cartoonist. The young people have the opportunity to change with Khalid Gueddar from Morocco, Willy Zekid, from Congo Brazzaville, and Cecile Bertrand who comes from Belgium.
The high point of these pedagogical courses, the great conference of Thursday May 31, 2018 at the MC93 of Bobigny is the occasion to return on the work carried out in the various schools and to deepen the debate, in the presence of famous cartoonist and president of Cartooning for Peace, Plantu, and the three other international cartoonists who furrow the département.
The department of Seine-Saint-Denis and the association Cartooning for Peace work together to spread common values such as freedom of expression, laicite, knowledge and respect for different beliefs and cultures. Cartooning for Peace, an international network of 183 committed cartoonists, uses the high pedagogical value of the press cartoon, a universal language tool, and its capacity to open the debate on major subjects of society and encourage young people to become actors of their citizenship.
