For the fifth year, Seine-Saint-Denis and Cartooning for Peace have joined forces as part of the department’s citizen education projects.
Cartooning for Peace raises awareness of major social problems through smiling by using the high pedagogical value of press cartoons. Thanks to the exhibitions “Cartooning for Peace” and “All Migrants! “The students were able to reflect with their teachers on issues related to freedom of expression and living together, with press cartoons as a means of expressing a universal language.
Each class involved in the project met a foreign cartoonist, member of Cartooning for Peace: Ali Jamshidifar (Iran), Michel Kichka (Israel) and Lassane Zohoré (Ivory Coast), these latter being part of the European programme “Cartooning for Peace and Democracy“. During these workshops, students discovered the world and the daily life of cartoonists, who had to juggle between limits and taboos.
The conference on Friday, May 24, 2019 will be an opportunity to review the work carried out in the various schools and to deepen the debate, in the presence of the famous cartoonist of the World and president of Cartooning for Peace, Plantu, and the three other international cartoonists who will have toured the department.
