Cartooning for Peace is pleased to contribute to the launch of the 2021 Freemuse Report on Artistic Freedom, The State of Artistic Freedom 2021, on 25 February as part of the “Re:Writing the Future” festival. The association documented and illustrated the report. This is a reminder that the year 2020, marked among other things by numerous arrests and the death of a teacher in France, has been particularly difficult for the cartoonists and the educational world.

Kak, President of Cartooning for Peace, took part in the round table presentation of the report with Dr. Srirak Plipat, Executive Director of Freemuse, Shurooq Amin, multidisciplinary artist and poet, and moderated by Nazeeha Saeed, journalist.

The festival “Re:Writing the Future” is a four-day event organised by the Allianz Kultrurstiftung in partnership with ICORN – International Cities of Refuge Network – in cooperation with the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. Learn more about the event.
