On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day on 3 May 2019, BOZAR and Cartooning for Peace, an international network of 184 press cartoonists, will be joining forces to present a unique selection of press cartoons on major issues concerning society and freedom of expression: women’s rights, censorship, ecological emergencies, migration, paedophilia, etc. With humour and irony, in a few short lines, these drawings condemn, accuse and express citizens’ concerns.
At the heart of the screening, some twenty animated films by press cartoonists from all over the world: Cécile Bertrand (Belgium), Boligan (Mexico) Firoozeh (Iran), Kichka (Israel), Telnaes (United States), Kroll (Belgium), Plantu (France), Xia (China)…
A series of interviews with press cartoonists explaining the “boundaries” of the press cartoon and a selection of cartoons will accompany these short films.

For the World Press Freedom Day, on May 3rd, Difference Day organizes workshops on freedom of expression, journalism, censorship and desinformation for schools.
