“La France s’engage” (France involved) aims to encourage and support social and solidarity economy projects chosen for their innovation and social utility. All initiatives meet the criteria of innovation, public utility and the capacity to be generalised. Supported by the French President, “La France s’engage” acts as a label for innovative and social projects.
Among 670 candidates this year only 30 have been selected to run for the final round. There are 15 winners at the end: 12 are directly chosen by the President, and 3 are elected by vote from the internauts.
That means the association is able to develop its educational activities with youth and inmates on a long-term perspective. Because of its ability to transcend language and cultures, the editorial cartoon is a powerful educational tool. It can bring about cross-cultural dialogue and fuel the debate about fundamental issues such as freedom of expression, democracy and tolerance.
