The leading literary event in the Occitanie region, the Marathon des mots—founded in 2005 by Olivier Poivre d’Arvor—celebrates literary creation in all its forms.
Regularly praised by the media for its creativity and diversity, the Marathon des mots, Toulouse Métropole’s international literature festival, invites French and international authors each year to participate in readings, musical readings, discussions, concerts, and screenings that bring together literature, the arts, and the humanities.
Cartooning for Peace is delighted to be participating in this major cultural event for the first time and invites you to attend a roundtable discussion open to the public:
10 April at 4pm at the Théâtre Sorano
35 Allée Jules Guesde, Toulouse
Free admission – In French
Faced with the staggering reality of a world in turmoil, as depicted in images in the latest book by Cartooning for Peace, press cartoons play a major role in the fight for press freedom.
However, the association’s latest report highlights the plight of press cartoonists worldwide, with alarming levels of censorship and threats, particularly online, as well as a dwindling number of positions in newsrooms. The proliferation of wars and conflicts also hangs over the profession like the sword of Damocles when it comes to drawing amidst the bombs… as an act of resistance.
