International Tribute to Diego Maradona, the Hand of God

Diego Maradona, the legendary Argentinean footballer, died of cardiac arrest on November 25 in Buenos Aires at the age of 60. Argentina mourns the man it calls its “pibe de oro”, its “mano de Dios”. The country has decreed three days of national mourning and the crowd is gathering in front of the presidential palace where his remains are on display, to pay him a last tribute, in an almost religious fervor.
The whole world remembers this kid from the slums of the capital, who developed an early gift for the ball and had a dazzling career in Barcelona, Naples through the 1986 World Cup, won by the Albiceleste.
Of modest origin, he married the causes of Latin American left-wingers by being close to Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez, a figure of Che tattooed on his shoulder! Sulphurous personality, he also fell into drugs, excesses and frequented the Neapolitan mafia … But his genius surpasses his weaknesses, if we believe the international repercussions of his disappearance.
