“Connecting People: Cartoons for Peaceful Coexistence”

Editorial published on November 17, 2017

Living together… The big challenge of our contemporary societies, at the same time open to a globalized world and sometimes tempted to isolationism, looking at the alarming rise of nationalism. Yet it is the only option we have to create a peaceful and democratic world.

The exhibition “Connecting People – Cartoons for Peaceful Coexistence” was curated by the young people from Molenbeek in collaboration with cartoonists from Cartooning for Peace and the Maison des Cultures et de la Cohésion sociale (Cultural and Social Cohesion Center).

On November 16 and 17, famous cartoonists from here and elsewhere will meet the inhabitants and young people of Molenbeek to discuss about diversity, respect for others, freedom of expression and equality: Cécile Bertrand, Kroll, Geluck, as for Belgian talents, but also Willis from Tunis (Tunisia), Kichka (Israel), Hossam Al Saadi (Syria) and Plantu (France).
