Biden-Putin: a summit meeting to avoid a conflagration

In the wake of Joe Biden’s European tour to re-establish the transatlantic alliance, which was damaged by his predecessor, American and Russian leaders met in a highly anticipated meeting in Geneva (Switzerland) on Wednesday, June 16.
There are many reasons for tension between the two powers. On the menu: Russian cyberattacks, denounced by the United States, the opponent Alexei Navalny, the annexation of Crimea, Belarus… And China, of course!
No concrete announcement came out of the meeting and skepticism remains deep between the two leaders. But the willingness to sit around the table and put the topics of disagreement has been honored, that’s something…
