Swen was born on December 27th. 1969 in Solothurn, Switzerland. He lives and works in Baden near Zurich and occasionally in Podebrady, Czech Republic. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts F+F in Zurich. During his Bachelor of Fine Arts, he studied modern visual arts.
Since 1996 he has been working as an editorial cartoonist for several newspapers in Switzerland and Germany, including : CH Media, Gastro Journal, Handelszeitung, Nebelspalter, Schweiz am Wochenende, Sonntags Zeitung, from time to time Amnesty Internatonal Switzerland and other “media”.
He also works as a graphic designer, cartoonist or illustrator on commission for companies. In 2008, he initiated and co-founded “gezeichnet.ch”, an exhibition in Bern: “Review of the year by all Swiss editorial cartoonists at the Swiss Museum of Communication”. He has participated in numerous competitions and went second at the “World Press Cartoon Award” in Portugal in 2017.
