On Wednesday, January 17, the French Alliance of Amsterdam celebrates its opening at the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam (OBA). At this occasion, three of Cartooning for Peace’s cartoonists are reunited and hosting a great event around editorial cartoons. On the menu: the presentation of exhibition “Tous migrants !” (All migrants !) and an exceptional debate with Plantu (France), and Dutch cartoonists Joep Bertrams and Tjeerd Royaards.
Exhibition “Tous migrants !” (All migrants !) tells of the long journey of refugees through cartoons, from the reason of their exil to their everyday life in their host countries. It also refers to the Cartooning for Peace albums collection edited by Gallimard : each thematic book is prefaced by an expert and explores a subject of topical interest through editorial cartoons from all over the world. Among them was published “Tous Migrants !”, prefaced by Benjamin Stora – university lecturer, board member of the Immigration History Museum (Paris) and specialist of the contemporary history of North Africa.
Opening takes place on Wednesday, January 17 with the presence of French Ambassador for the Netherlands Philippe Lalliot. Along the presentation of “Tous Migrants” a debate is taking place with the cartoonists, moderated by Pierre-Pascal Bruneau from bookshop “Le Temps Retrouvé”. Conference is translated simultaneously in French and Dutch.
Exhibition is then starting its tour at La Haye French Lycée from January 18 to February 2nd, and then all over the country. It will be back at OBA for Spring 2018.
