Malaysian cartoonist Zunar was awarded 2015 International Press Freedom Award by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) ! Zunar is currently facing a 43 years imprisonment sentence for having posted 9 cartoons on Twitter. Zunar -first press cartoonist to receive this prestigious award- stated : “The award is not for me but for all concerned Malaysians who are fighting for a total reform in the country“.
Zunar is one of the cartoonists who will speak during our international seminar “Press cartoons : a state of affairs”. This seminar is organised by Cartooning for Peace and the Economic, Social and Environmental Council on September 21 at the Palais d’Iéna in Paris.
