Like the American Association for Editorial Cartoonists (AAEC) and Counterpoint, Cartooning for Peace takes in with surprise and disappointment the decision of the Pulitzer Prize committee not to award a cartoonist in 2021.
The essential role played by cartoonists in this particular year and the difficulties they have had to endure make it all the more legitimate to recognize their mission.
The decision of the committee of one of the most prestigious journalistic prizes sends a very negative signal to the profession at a time when pressure against cartoonists is growing all over the world and recognition is even more important Today than in the past.
Cartooning for Peace stands in solidarity with the AAEC, Counterpoint and the finalists.
