As part of the Africa2020 Season, Cartooning for Peace and the French Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports have joined forces to offer an original exhibition.
The aim of the “Draw me Africa” exhibition is to “invite people to look at the world from an African point of view”, as N’Goné Fall, General Commissioner of the Africa2020 Season, put it. The proposed exhibition explores twelve thematic fields (democracy, sustainable development, freedom of the press, the place of women and youth in society, etc.) in relation to contemporary African society. For each of them, press cartoons from the continent’s talents illustrate the difficulties but also the solutions found by Africans to their political, economic and social challenges. The works presented show the vitality of freedom of expression and satirical humour in Africa, and the capacity of Africans to cast a lucid and hopeful eye on a world they aspire to make ever better.
The exhibition is available only in French. If you are interested in using a Cartooning for Peace tool in English, please discover our “Cartooning for Peace and Democracy” educational booklet.
