On Wednesday 24 January 2018, cartoonists Camille Besse and Adjim Danngar set off to meet young people followed by the Judicial Protection of Young People (PJJ) in Departement 95.
Within the framework of a partnership with the Ile-de-France Regional Department of Cultural Affairs (DRAC), Cartooning for Peace offers minors under judicial control the opportunity to discover the profession of editorial cartoonist and to discuss fundamental freedoms.
Through the exhibition “All Migrants!” these young people, aged 16 to 18, discover the plurality of points of view of cartoonists from all over the world on migration issues, try press cartoons and compare their opinions on freedom of expression.
“All migrants!” is composed of thirteen kakemonos (100 x 200 cm panels) scrolling. This exhibition traces the complex journey of migrants through press cartoons from all over the world. From the reasons for leaving to the process of integration in a new country, not forgetting the obstacles encountered during their journey, press cartoonists analyse in a few lines this major challenge for our societies. Through the thematic panels, their pencil strokes break down prejudices, denounce the rejection of strangers and show the contribution and richness of diversity.
The exhibition, born in 2017, follows the Cartooning for Peace collection published the same year by Gallimard.
