Every year, Cartooning for Peace organizes a training for press cartoonists on how to intervene in schools and prisons, with the support of the Fonds du 11 janvier. On 9 and 10 March 2020, twelve press cartoonists gathered for two days to share their experiences and prepare to run workshops around the Cartooning for Peace educational exhibitions in schools and prisons.
This training enabled the cartoonists to meet three professionals from the school, prison and youth judicial protection (YJP, protection judiciaire de la jeunesse) sectors. They discussed the expectations of the public concerned by the workshops and were able to answer the cartoonists’ questions and apprehensions.
The press cartoonists trained this year, as well as some of those who had participated in this training in previous years, also had the opportunity to attend the presentation by Fabrice Teicher, trainer and independent consultant, on “how to respond to violent speeches and conspiracy theory”.
This training is an opportunity to exchange on each other’s workshop experiences, to transmit a know-how according to the target audience or to discover animation techniques.
