El Universo newspaper (Ecuador) chose Cartooning for Peace to celebrate his 90th birthday during a big event called “Humor grafico y Periodismo”. For the occasion, two exhibitions were displayed in Ecuador. The first one, “Libertad de opinion”, at the French Alliance of Quito and Guayaquil.
These exhibitions brought together artists from around the world and created an opportunity to lauch the first international meeting of editorial cartoons and journalism in Ecuador, a meeting gathering many artists coming mainly from Latin America.
Participants: Ares (Cuba), Angel Boligán (Mexico), Horacio Cardo (Argentina), Plantu (France), Paulo Caruso (Brazil), Matt Wuerker (USA), Hernán Vidal and Hervé (Chile), Matador (Colombia), and the Ecuadorian cartoonists Asrúbalde la Torre (HOY), Bonil (El Universo,Vistazo), Pancho Cajas (El Comercio), Marcelo Chamorro (Vanguardia, La Hora) and Luis Ibarra (Expreso).
