Cartooning for Peace, partner for the 2nd time of the Nuit de l’Europe of Sciences Po Strasbourg

Cartooning for Peace is a partner for the second time of the Nuit de l’Europe, organised by Sciences Po Strasbourg in partnership with Le Monde. Dedicated to the sharing of ideas and knowledge, the event brings together researchers, journalists, artists and students to think together about Europe. In the heart of the historic centre of Strasbourg, European capital, Sciences Po transforms its site – the Cardo – into a lively and interactive agora for one night.

Press cartoonists Kak (France), President of Cartooning for Peace, Vladimir Kazanevsky (Ukraine) and Viacheslav Shilov (Russia) take part in the Nuit de l’Europe with the roundtable:

“Leave us in peace! (Fichez-nous la paix !) When press cartoons tell the story of the war in Ukraine” from 8pm to 9pm, Amphi E.

“The war decided and led by Vladimir Putin’s Russia has burst into the lives of all Ukrainians; in many ways, it has also intruded into the lives of all Europeans and, by ricochet, into the whole world,” writes Pierre Haski, journalist and president of Reporters Without Borders, in the preface to Cartooning for Peace’s book “Leave us in peace!”.

This war, which has been dragging on for more than a year and has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths, is also an information war with collateral victims. We will discuss this with the press cartoonists Vladimir Kazanevsky (Ukraine) and Viacheslav Shilov (Russia), who have both fled their respective countries to escape pressure from Moscow, and Kak (France), President of Cartooning for Peace.

The book “Fichez-nous la paix !” (Leave us in peace!) by Cartooning for Peace, with a preface by the journalist Pierre Haski, a specialist in international issues, and published by Gallimard in partnership with Amnesty International and France Médias Monde, will be available for sale during the Nuit de l’Europe.

A signing session will be organised with the Cartooning for Peace cartoonists.

The exhibition “Justice for Ukraine”, created by Cartooning for Peace in partnership with Amnesty International, based on the book “Fichez-nous la paix !”, will also be presented until 13 June.

In addition, press cartoonists Piet, Laurent Salles and Yannick Lefrançois (France) will illustrate the various debates with live cartooning.
