International Migrants Day is held every year on 18 December at the Museum of History of Immigration, with the aim of dispelling prejudices and raising awareness of the contribution of migrants in the economic, cultural and social fields, to the benefit of countries of origin and destination.

International Migrants Day is a key event for the entire solidarity movement working on the issue of migration in France, both in terms of welcoming and supporting migrants and in their advocacy work, which aims to challenge, raise awareness and guide the public authorities.

Kak, president of the association, participates in the round table “Artists and activists: Same causes, same fights? Towards a common advocacy?” from 11:30 to 13pm, alongside Philippe Rey, editor of the collection “Refusing the inhuman! Writers on the side of migrants”, Marie Hénocq, national delegate for the Bretagne Pays de Loire region of CIMADE, Jacques Ould Aoudia, vice-president of Migrations et Développement, Justine Stievenard, Project Manager at GRDR Migration Citoyenneté Développement, Sébastien Fontagneu, President of the association e-graine île-de-France, Claire Rodier, director of GISTI, a representative from FORIM.

Moderated by Nora Hamadi, journalist and producer at France Culture.

Solidarity organisations are increasingly turning to the artistic world to relay and support their issues, actions and struggles in the field of migration and immigration. How can the artistic sphere complement, extend, relay and promote the indispensable action of organisations? How can we understand the political dimension of the artist? Is this relationship between artists and activists now a necessary step for organisations to address and raise awareness among a wider, younger and more diverse public?
