At a time when the Taliban are trampling on women’s rights more than ever, Radio Begum, the radio station founded by Hamida Aman on 8 March 2021 and made by and for women, continues to fight every day to give women back their dignity and their future.

The authors and illustrators of this choral book have come together to relay their voices to date, with their outbursts and pencil strokes, their tributes to the rebels and their portraits of women who have lost too much to lose their courage.

This collection is made up of written contributions (by Hamida Aman, Leïla Slimani, Marjane Satrapi, Julie Gayet, Ghada Hatem, Raphaël Enthoven, Atiq Rahimi and Sophia Aram, among others) and 23 illustrations, including a dozen press cartoons that Cartooning for Peace has made available as a tribute to the courageous struggle of these women since the return of the Taliban in August 2021.

All profits from the book are donated to the Begum NGO and Radio Begum, a 100% women’s media outlet still broadcasting in Afghanistan.
