Cartooning for Peace stops being active on X (Twitter) and joining HelloQuitX

The Board of Cartooning for Peace has unanimously decided, like other media and NGOs, to stop all activity on X (Twitter), considering that the platform no longer guarantees the conditions for a healthy debate, given the influence of its owner. We consider that, although the empty chair policy is not ideal, it is even less desirable to feed a platform that is particularly toxic for democracy.

Cartooning for Peace is therefore joining forces with the HelloQuitX campaign:

HelloQuitX is a non-partisan, non-political movement whose aim is to enable citizens to reclaim digital spaces that are compatible with functional democracies.

The aim of the campaign in a nutshell: On #20January 2025, the day Donald Trump is inaugurated, let’s take back control by collectively leaving X for alternatives that respect freedom of expression.

With Hello Quit X, you can leave X without losing your followers or your content.

• BlueSky – NEW. On #20January, it’s the big reconnection! You will be able to log in with your BlueSky or Mastodon account on the CNRS migration platform. This will then automatically reconnect your account with those of your followers and followees who have also migrated to Mastodon or BlueSky. So it’s worth convincing them to do the same! After #20January, news and trends will be shaped elsewhere than on X. It’s up to you whether you want to keep your X account or not.
