One month to the day after the start of the war in Ukraine and the massive and unprecedented sanctions against Russia, the impact on the global economy is already being felt. The rise in energy prices, initiated by the health crisis, is accentuated by the conflict. Europe, which is heavily dependent on Russia for its gas and oil supplies, is forced to find alternatives in order to urgently establish energy sovereignty. This is one of the many items on the agenda of the Nato, G7 and European Council summits that Brussels is hosting on March 23 and 24, in the presence of US President Joe Biden. The United States and Europe announced on Friday, March 25, a “task force” to reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels.
