United States: the shadow of Trump’s return

On 15 January, Donald Trump won by a landslide (51% of the vote) the Iowa Caucus, which opens the Republican Primaries and the Presidential Elections of 2024. Although he did not deign to take part in the Republican primary debates, the former president is considered to be the favourite. He could well play his return match against Biden in November, despite his various lawsuits and his possible ineligibility in certain States. The man behind the assault on the Capitol (6 January 2021) has lost none of his confidence or his ability to distort reality to his advantage. His anti-system, populist rhetoric continues to win over his most fanatical supporters. In an extremely sensitive international context, the return of Donald Trump, who has close ties with Putin and is accustomed to diplomatic blows, could have dramatic consequences well beyond the borders of the United States.
