Ukrainian crisis: a war of nerves before a new cold war?

Are we on the verge of a Russian invasion of Ukraine and an open conflict between Russia and the United States? The tension has not stopped growing since the last unsuccessful talks in Geneva in early January.
Moscow wants to put an end to NATO enlargement, especially in Ukraine, and is making this known: several thousand Russian soldiers are dangerously amassed and multiplying military maneuvers on the border between Ukraine and Russia, so that Washington is expecting an imminent attack.
Europe, at the center of this dangerous game, is trying as best it can to combine diplomacy and firmness: Russian, Ukrainian, French and German representatives met in Paris on Wednesday, January 26 and committed themselves, in a joint declaration, to the unconditional respect of the cease-fire. Let’s hope it lasts!
