The consequences of this tragic war in the Ukraine, which we fear is destined to get bogged down, go beyond European borders and concern the whole world.
Its impact on the energy and food sectors is worrying and we are currently witnessing a real “wheat war”: Ukraine and Russia are among the world’s leading exporters. The Russian blockade of the Black Sea prevents Kiev from exporting millions of tons of grain and thus deprives many countries around the Mediterranean and in Africa of their supplies. This is why Macky Sall, President of Senegal and current Chairman of the African Union, visited the Russian President last week. Everywhere, there is a drastic increase in food prices and we can fear a global food crisis, warned the UN for several weeks.
