It has been more than four months since the war in Ukraine began and there is every reason to believe that it will continue for a long time. Even if it has given up on taking Kiev, the Russian army is advancing inexorably in the Donbass, and despite Ukrainian resistance, several towns have already fallen into Russian hands and others are being evacuated.
So far, Western sanctions, unprecedented in their scope, have not yet prevented the advance of Putin’s army, which on 7 July defied the West by warning that “serious things” had not yet begun… But other lines have moved: the latest G7 (June 26-28) and NATO (June 30) summits confirm the strengthening of the union between Americans and Europeans with, in particular, the integration of Finland and Sweden, which have ended their military neutrality to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
