On Monday, May 6, at UNESCO House in Paris, the Intergovernmental Scientific and Political Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), after 3 years of study, makes an alarming observation: one million species – both animal and vegetal – are in danger of disappearing in the short term!
This first report on global biodiversity states that 75% of the terrestrial environment and 40% of the marine environment show “significant signs of degradation”. The causes of this vertiginous extinction of species are all of human origin.
Researchers indicate that the worst can still be avoided by radically changing the way we use natural resources. All of humanity depends on it!
