March 8, a Day Like no Other

Editorial published on March 08, 2018

This International Women’s Day will likely be different than last years. 2017 seems to have opened a new era for women who, after the scandal of Hollywood producer Weinstein, accused of rape and harassment by dozens of women, have united around the world (including the campaigns #MeToo and #BalanceTonPorc) to denounce harassment and violence against them.

But the roadmap to equality is still long … Only last year, Saudi Arabia announced by a royal decree that Saudi women would be allowed to drive (this measure will come into force on June 2018).

That’s why Cartooning for Peace partners with UN Women to highlight the priorities that we shall work in the future in order to ensure equality for women and girls. An opportunity also to pay tribute to the commitment of the women cartoonists from around the world!
