Hot, hot, hot!

53°C in the United States, 52°C in China, 48°C in Sardinia… After the hottest June in history, July is being marked by exceptional heat waves throughout the northern hemisphere. The record for the hottest day on record, 54.4°C in the shade, could even be broken in the aptly named “Death Valley” in the United States. This suffocating weather is leading to widespread fears of fires similar to those that have ravaged Canada and are currently sweeping through Greece, as well as waves of deaths among the most vulnerable. The heat domes responsible for this global phenomenon are undeniably linked to global warming, and all human activities are going to have to adapt if we hope to curb the phenomenon in the long term.
