The Israeli operation to “annihilate” Hamas in Gaza is continuing to destroy and empty the north of the Gaza Strip, which is home to the terrorist organisation’s tunnels (the “Gaza underground”), at the cost of thousands of victims whose numbers are difficult to verify. On Wednesday 15 November, the Israeli army entered the Al Shifa hospital, where 2,300 patients and civilians are taking refuge, according to the UN. Tsahal and its American ally claim that Hamas is using the hospital as a command centre.
Faced with this dramatic situation, the international community, including some of Israel’s allies, reacted: that same day, the UN Security Council finally managed to adopt a resolution calling for urgent and prolonged humanitarian breaks in Gaza and the immediate release of the hostages. Gaza City is now nothing more than a field of ruins, and its one million inhabitants have taken refuge to the south or are surviving in extremely difficult conditions.
