This Thursday, June 2, and for four days of festivities, the United Kingdom celebrates the platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II of England. Her recent health problems did not prevent her from appearing this morning on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, alongside the royal family (except for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan…), to greet the large and enthusiastic crowd.
Particularly appreciated by the British, the one who came to the throne in 1952, now 96 years old, holds the record for longevity in his country with 70 years of reign.
Although the British monarchy is criticized in many respects, Elizabeth II enjoys an extraordinary sympathy capital and embodies an entire part of contemporary history.
