India has been facing an outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic for the last few days, with nearly 230,000 deaths and more than 20 million officially registered cases. Yesterday, Wednesday May 5, in the space of 24 hours, 4,000 deaths and 412,000 new infections have been recorded and the worst is yet to come. The government and its Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, have been criticized, especially by the middle class that brought him to power. The poor management of the crisis and the obsolescence of the health system in the face of this dramatic situation are weakening the party in power, while regional elections are taking place. International aid is pouring in: more than 300 tons of equipment (oxygen, ventilators, etc.) and medicines from all over the world have been sent to the airport in New Delhi, the capital. But according to several media, no domestic flight has carried out the transport of equipment to other regions of the country for the moment.
