After a two-month pause, the countries that had been forced into containment are gradually getting back on track. Deconfinement is an even more dreaded stage: it is a leap into the void, a gamble on the unknown, as it is so difficult to predict the evolution of the disease, once people will once again be able to move freely. What will our societies learn from these two months? It is probably too early to say, but education is THE question of the moment. The return to school, which some countries have already started, is the subject of much debate. Precautionary measures are binding and some parents, teachers and local officials are not prepared to take risks. Japan had to close its schools in April following a resurgence of the virus… Other countries in Europe, such as Italy, Spain, Portugal and Ireland are not planning to start school until September.
It’s time to tell ourselves that barrier gestures, social distancing and hygiene measures have never been so necessary…
