A wave of bloody attacks has rocked the country in 10 days – Intercontinental Hotel, British NGO “Save the children” in Jalālābād and Marshal Fahim military academy – and more than 100 people were killed on Saturday, January 27 following the ambulance bombing in a secure zone, home to government offices and foreign embassies.
Kabul being the target of Taliban and the Islamic State’s Afghan branch, civilians are paying the price and, as usual, are the tragic victims. Are they too far from us? Is this happening too often for the international community to be moved and start acting?
The US military presence – Kabul’s principal ally in the fight against terrorism – in Afghanistan since 2001 doesn’t change a thing. And we do know by now that chaos is the best breeding-ground for terrorism to put down roots…
