Now a month into another tragic war between Israel and Hamas, the Jewish community around the world is facing an unprecedented wave of antisemitism, particularly in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and France. In Brazil, two men were arrested on 8 November for planning an attack on the Jewish community in Rio.
The European Commission expressed alarm in a press release: “The upsurge in antisemitic incidents across Europe in recent days has reached exceptionally high levels, reminiscent of some of the darkest periods in history”. Israel is even dissuading its citizens from travelling abroad.
In France, where more than 1,000 antisemitic incidents have been recorded in a month, a march against antisemitism will take place in Paris on Sunday 12 November.
