An International Women’s Day with an egalitarian future in the world of COVID-19

Editorial published on March 05, 2021

Women are on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis, as health professionals, caregivers, innovators, community organizers and, in some cases, as national leaders who are among the most exemplary and effective leaders in the fight against the pandemic. The crisis has underscored the critical importance of women’s contributions and the disproportionate burden they bear” said the United Nations, as it seeks to pay tribute to women in this difficult pandemic period.
And UN Women to recall: “since the appearance of COVID-19, data and reports … show that all types of violence against women and girls, especially domestic violence, have increased.”.
The health crisis increases tenfold these problems, already major in normal times. All the more reason to mobilize forcefully, as the cartoonists of Cartooning for Peace have always done.
So don’t forget to take part in the “Generation Equality: picture it” Contest: you have until March 14!
