STEPHB

Philippines

Steph Bravo-Semilla is a professional artist and cartoonist from the Philippines. She joined the Philippine Daily Inquirer in 1998 as a press cartoonist and illustrator. The Inquirer was born at the time of the EDSA revolution and aims to be a newspaper ‘fearless in the face of repression and unwavering in its commitment to truth’. Since the COVID crisis, she has worked exclusively from home. The gradual disappearance of cartoons from Philippine newspapers gave rise to a Facebook group that she soon joined called Pitik Bulag, giving Filipino cartoonists a place to post their editorial cartoons, meet regularly and exchange ideas about creating cartoons and sharing opinions on political issues in their country.
