Rafael Pineda (Rapé) was born in 1972 in Veracruz (Mexico). He graduated in Social communication before starting his cartoonist career in 1996 by publishing in the magazine El Chamuco. He then started publishing in many national and international media such as Canal 40, Uno más uno, México Hoy, El Universal, El Economista, L’Antitempo (Italie), Espaces Latinos (France).
He is the general director of the magazine El Chamuco y los hijos del Averno and is also the directior of the Sacalepunta animaciones collective. Rapé has also produced the animated short film « Soy el Número 16 », finalist of the Gabriel García Márquez prize.
