Piyale Madra was born in Ankara and studied in France, at the École des Beaux-Arts in Grenoble. After graduating, she went back to Istanbul, where she began her carreer as a cartoonist in 1982, through the serie Picnic. She creates a new serie, « Adams and Eves » in 1994. Both series are published in daily newspapers (Milliyet, Cumhuriyet, …), in books and broadcasted on TV channels. Piyala Madra often holds exhibits in Europe since the 1990s.
