Gary Waters was born in the rough, tough South Wales coal mining town of Merthyr Tydfil. At the age of 18 he left to study art. First sculpture in Birmingham and then photography at the Royal College of Art London. After leaving, he lived and worked as an artist and taught in many Colleges of art in the U.K. and for a short while in the U.S.A.
Gary Waters has held solo exhibitions in London, Nice, Toulouse, Venice, Zagreb and lots of other cities throughout Europe. Since 1992 he has lived and worked from a small-unknown village in southwest France. The Guardian, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Al Jazeera, M.T.V. or even Vogue has published some of his work.
