A Filipino cartoonist and author, Jose Santos ‘Chong’ Ardivilla made his name with his satirical comic strip in The Philippine STAR. He holds a PhD in Fine Arts, which he obtained in the United States as a Fulbright scholar, and teaches and conducts research on drawing as a tool for resistance and public memory. A member of the Samahang Kartunista ng Pilipinas association, he has also written for the Manila Standard. As an artist with a visual impairment (monocular), he incorporates issues of perception and inclusivity into his work.
