After the Cartooning for Peace and Democracy in Israel programme’s launch, supported by the European Union, with the training of Israeli cartoonists and teachers in January, the first workshops between press cartoonists and school audiences have been held since the end of February.
Produced jointly by Cartooning for Peace and the Center for Educational Technology, this project allows the circulation of an exhibition reflecting the challenges and aspirations of Israeli youth and the deeper reflection on the media, freedom of expression and major societal issues through press cartoons.
The students of the partner schools have already been able to discover the profession of press cartoonist and exchange ideas on many subjects with the cartoonists Uri Fink, Shay Charka, Yonatan Wachsmann, Avi Katz who took part in the discussions.
We are now halfway there and the meetings in which the cartoonists Michel Kichka and Nusko will also take part are going on.
