When repression makes it impossible to take out a camera, when words fail in the face of extreme violence, drawing remains.
The exhibition ‘Cartooning for Myanmar’, created by Info Birmanie, Visual Rebellion and Cartooning for Peace, with the support of Fondemos, La Ville de Paris, and Reporters without borders, is now on display on the railings of Choisy Park, 128 Avenue de Choisy (75013 Paris) from 1 February to 31 March 2026, with free admission.
This initiative brings together the work of seven Burmese cartoonists in exile (Thum Yum, Michi Emma, Lun Yé, T.H.A, BB, Friday and Atun) who wish to bear witness to the repression in Myanmar, accompanied by cartoons created by members of the Cartooning for Peace network.
It is part of a programme to support and highlight the work of Burmese cartoonists who have been in exile since the coup, co-created by Cartooning for Peace, Info Birmanie, and Visual Rebellion Myanmar, with the support of La Ville de Paris, Fondemos and Reporters without borders. For nine months, these Burmese press cartoonists were supported in their press cartooning practice by members of the Cartooning for Peace network.
The exhibition was first presented on the gates of the Buttes-Chaumont Park from 20 September 2025 to 31 January 2026.
In addition, a discussion on ‘Cartooning for Myanmar’ was held as part of the Le Monde Festival on Saturday 20 September 2025 in the foyer of the Le Monde group’s auditorium, bringing together a Burmese cartoonist participating in the programme, as well as specialists from the region and the media.
