European Cartoon Award 2025, ten years after the attack on Charlie Hebdo

Kak (France), president of Cartooning for Peace, Zehra Ömeroğlu (Turkey) and Emad Hajjaj (Jordan), cartoonists who are members of the Cartooning for Peace network, will take part in the day dedicated to the European Cartoon Award 2025, Europe’s leading press cartoon award, which will be held on 12 December 2025 at the Central Library in The Hague.

Ten years after the attack on Charlie Hebdo, this edition offers an in-depth reflection on the evolution of satire, freedom of expression and the role of cartoons in a democratic society, through a series of debates and discussions bringing together cartoonists and journalists.

 

10 YEARS #JeSuisCharlie – Screening & Discussion

5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Screening of the VRT documentary on the consequences of the attack on Charlie Hebdo and the debates it sparked on satire, freedom of expression and democracy in Europe.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Kak (France), Zehra Ömeroğlu (Turkey), award-winning cartoonist, and Emad Hajjaj (Jordan).
