After two editions in Tunis, the Mediterranean Agora for Journalism, organised by Journalisme & Citoyenneté, is moving to Marseille. This third edition will bring together journalists from over 30 countries for a rich programme of debates on the theme: “What kind of journalism in Africa and the Mediterranean for tomorrow?”.
As Jérôme Bouvier, President of Journalisme & Citoyenneté, points out in his editorial, “in the face of the threat of chaos, journalism is on the front line. How can we resist? How can we organise ourselves? How can we keep hope alive if we can’t guarantee honest and reliable information for everyone? This is our social and democratic utility. This usefulness must bring us together, beyond cultures, beliefs and borders. This third edition of the Assises Méditerranéennes du Journalisme, which will bring us together in Marseilles, offers us this wonderful opportunity. A space for dialogue, free from any interference, where we can compare our experiences, overcome our misunderstandings, promote our inspiring initiatives, and imagine new paths for the journalism of tomorrow. Peace, security, climate, migration, media education or the challenges of artificial intelligence – there is so much to do around this Mare Nostrum, this shared sea where part of our humanity is at stake.”
Sharing these same convictions, Cartooning for Peace is pleased to be associated with the event by showing around sixty press cartoons from its collection to enrich the discussions on the following round tables:
