Calais, symbol of the migratory crisis

Editorial published on October 28, 2016

The “Jungle” of Calais and its dismantling, which began on October 24th by the French authorities, crystallizes all issues related to the migratory crisis that Europe is facing for several years now.

Nearly 7,000 migrants were evacuated and redirected to other reception facilities spread throughout France. Many of them still dream of joining England. But the tension is palpable between Paris and London, which are struggling to reach an agreement particularly regarding the protection of unaccompanied minors wishing to be transferred to the UK, under the family reunification.
