Cartooning for Peace, partner of Press and Media Week in School 35th edition by CLEMI

from 18 to 23 March 2024

As it does every year, Cartooning for Peace is a partner of Press Media Week in School organised by CLEMI (Centre pour l’éducation aux médias et à l’information). For this 35th edition, the poster has been designed by Marie Morelle (France), a press cartoonist and member of the network.

The Press and Media Week in School is the main gateway for many teachers in France who want to introduce their pupils to the world of the press and media, and teach them how to keep themselves informed.

This is an opportunity for Cartooning for Peace to remind people of the existence of the “Let’s go for sport! Press cartoons and citizenship” educational tool (although developed in French, the press cartoon exhibition can be used both in French and English).

EXHIBITION OPENING AND FEEDBACK SESSION

The “Let’s go for sport! Press cartoons and citizenship” project was developed with young people mobilised by the centres Paris Anim’ Jacques Bravo and Paul Valeyre in Paris, France.

The exhibition is inaugurated on Saturday 23 March 2024 at 4pm at the Centre Jacques Bravo (14-18 rue de la Tour des Dames, 75009 Paris, France), in the presence of the young participants, their families and the outreach teams, with a view to share a festive moment.

The exhibition and behind-the-scenes photos of its creation are on display, along with the cartoons produced by the young participants. There is also an area dedicated to listening to interviews with top sportsmen and women prepared and conducted by the young people.

CHALLENGE #cartooningforsport

To accompany the release of the educational tool “Let’s go for sport! Press cartoons and citizenship”, Cartooning for Peace is launching a cartoon challenge – #CartoonYouthChallenge – aimed at young people aged 13 to 25, all over the world.

The aim? For everyone to express themselves by creating a cartoon on one of the themes covered in the educational tool.

Throughout March, Cartooning for Peace is inviting young people to publish their cartoons.

As education professionals, you can also publish the cartoons of the young people you support on your school’s website and let us know by emailing pedago@cartooningforpeace.org or directly on social media using the hashtags #cartooningforsport and #cartoonyouthchallenge.

This challenge could also provide an opportunity to work with young people during Press and Media Week in School organised by CLEMI (Centre de Liaison de l’Enseignement et des Médias d’Information) from 18 to 23 March 2024.
