This year, the 19th edition of the Tours Journalism Conference, which takes place from 7 to 11 April 2026, is dedicated to the theme ‘[In] Search of the Truth’.
“Truth. Post-truth. Alternative truth. Lies. Fake news. Information warfare. When the reality of the facts is denied. Systematically distorted. It is the very heart of democratic debate that is under threat!”
Journalists, researchers, citizens and publishers are gathering in Tours for five days of debates, workshops, exhibitions, evening events, award ceremonies and the Journalism Book Fair.
Thursday 9 April 2026, 11.15 am–12.45 pm
Palais des Congrès, Room 2
On Thursday 9 April 2026, Cartooning for Peace will take part in the workshop-debate ‘Gag lawsuits: the price of truth’ to discuss the abusive legal proceedings targeting press cartoonists around the world. Among the threats documented against cartoonists, abusive legal proceedings aimed at silencing them top the list of violations recorded by Cartooning for Peace and its partners over the past two years. This trend is highlighted in the report “Under Pressure”: Report on the Situation of Threatened Press Cartoonists Worldwide (2023–2025), published on 2 March 2026 with the support of UNESCO’s Global Media Defence Fund (GMDF) and the CFC.
